Use
Your team
A site can have 2 people on Free, 10 on Growth and 50 on Business (counting open invites), each with a role. There's no per-seat charge. Invite them from Site settings → Team.
Roles
| Viewer | Admin | Owner | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Read every report, Explore, Ask Punchline | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Save their own reports and dashboards, share them with the site | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Create public share links | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Change settings, install keys, URL parameter rules | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Alerts and alert destinations | ✓ | ✓ | |
| API keys, MCP connections, CRM, GA4 and ad integrations | ✓ | ✓ | |
| Invite people, change roles, remove people | ✓ |
A site always has at least one owner. To hand a site over, make the other person an owner first, then change your own role or leave.
Viewers can't see Site settings, and alert pages show them what's set up without the controls to change it.
Inviting someone
- In Site settings → Team, enter their email and pick Viewer or Admin. Invite more owners by inviting them as an admin and then changing their role.
- Punchline emails them a link. The link also appears on screen, so you can send it yourself in Slack or anywhere else.
- They open it and sign in with the same email address. They don't need an account first; signing in creates one.
Invite links:
- work once, for the email they were sent to;
- expire after 7 days;
- can be cancelled from the Team card until they're used.
Only a fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of each link is stored, so nobody can read working links out of the database. If someone already on the site accepts an invite, they keep the higher of their two roles.
Leaving and removing
Anyone except the last owner can leave a site from the Team card. Owners can remove anyone, with the same last-owner rule. Removing someone takes effect right away: their next page load or action is refused. Leaving or being removed also ends what they could use from outside the dashboard: their AI-assistant (MCP) connections to the site, the API keys they created, and the share links they made all stop working. Reports they shared with the site stay; their private reports stay private, and they keep no access to them. If you need an integration that used one of their keys, create a new key.
Creating an account
Punchline is in early access: accounts come from a team invite or from asking for a free week. Once you're in, adding your first site takes three steps: add the site, install it, and watch the first visit arrive.
What's stored about your team
Each member's account ID, email address, role and the date they joined; and for each open invite, the email, role, who sent it and when it expires. Expired invites are deleted 30 days after they expire. This is about the people using Punchline, never about your site's visitors.
